Indian Knowledge System (IKS): A Rich Heritage of Traditional Wisdom

The Indian Knowledge System (IKS) encompasses the traditional knowledge and practices of India, developed over thousands of years. IKS is a unique blend of philosophy, spirituality, art, science, and technology, which has contributed significantly to India's rich cultural heritage.
Characteristics of IKS

1.Yoga - As per the National Education Policy (NEP), yoga activities in schools promote holistic well-being by integrating physical, mental, and emotional health. Regular yoga sessions enhance students' concentration, reduce stress, and improve flexibility. Schools are encouraged to include yoga in the curriculum to foster a balanced lifestyle and lifelong wellness habits.

2.  Ganpati Maha arti Celebration - Ganesh Festival celebration in schools, as per the Indian Knowledge System, fosters cultural awareness and spiritual growth among students. It emphasizes eco-friendly practices, traditional rituals, and the significance of Lord Ganesha in wisdom and learning. Through storytelling, art, and community participation, students develop a deeper connection to India’s rich heritage.

3. Bhondla Celebration - 

  Bhondla celebration in schools, as per the Indian Knowledge System, nurtures cultural appreciation and community bonding among students. This traditional Maharashtrian festival, observed during Navratri, involves singing folk songs, performing rituals, and celebrating nature’s bounty. It fosters joy, creativity, and respect for Indian traditions while strengthening social harmony.

4.Makarsankranti celebration -  Makar Sankranti celebration in schools promotes awareness of seasonal changes and agrarian traditions. Students engage in kite flying, traditional games, and sharing festive sweets like tilgul, fostering joy and cultural learning. The festival instills gratitude for nature’s cycles and encourages unity through traditional festivities. 

5. Dahi Handi Celebration -  Dahi Handi celebration in schools fosters teamwork, courage, and devotion through the playful reenactment of Lord Krishna’s childhood. It teaches students the values of unity, perseverance, and cultural heritage in a joyful and engaging manner.  

6.Ashadhi Ekadashi Celebration -  Ashadhi Ekadashi celebration in school highlights devotion, discipline, and the spiritual significance of the Warkari tradition. Students participate in palkhi processions, bhajans, and storytelling, fostering faith, unity, and cultural awareness.
